Mrs. Annie Fuquay Compton, age 80, of Anderson Community, N.C. passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Hospice Home of Alamance-Caswell after a long period of declining health.
Mrs. Compton was born September 20, 1940 in Caswell County to Monroe and Ruth Griggs Fuquay. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Wallace Compton; long-time pet, “Snoopy”; sister-in-law, Betty Sue Edwards and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Annie attended Bartlett Yancey High School and graduated in 1959. She was employed by Wachovia Bank for 35 years. A long-time member of Alamance Region AACA, Annie was an avid car show participant. She enjoyed working in her garden and planting flowers in her yard. Annie was a dedicated NASCAR fan and had a great love of music. She was a member of Baynes Baptist Church for more than 25 years.
Annie was predeceased by her parents and four brothers; Lacy, Bill, George and James Fuquay.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 25 at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church, 101 Cherry Grove Road in Yanceyville, NC by Rev. Barry Lane. The family will be available to greet following the service. Mrs. Compton will be available for public viewing from 1:00 – 5:00 PM Tuesday afternoon at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers and providing food the family would prefer memorials to be made to AuthoraCare Hospice, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
