Annie Calligan

Gibsonville, NC Annie Margaret "Sis" Calligan, age 83, of S. Joyner Street went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 8, 2008 at the Hospice Home. She was a native of Guilford County and the daughter of the late W. P. and Carrie May Calligan. Annie retired after 30 years with Western Electric. She was an active member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church and a member of the Wharton Sunday School Class and a member of Circle # 2. Annie enjoyed growing flowers and feeding birds around her home. she was given to hospitality and spent many happy hours on her front porch with neighbors and friends. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Lucille Calligan of Gibsonvile; nephew, Thomas Calligan and his wife, Janet of Liberty; numerous great nieces, nephews and great great nieces and nephews and her front porch family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, W. E., Dexter G. and John P. Calligan; nephews, Charles P. Calligan and Patrick L. Caligan. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at the Gibsonville United Methodist Church by Dr. David Greene and the burial will follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The body will lie in state 1 hour prior to the service at the church and other times at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
