Anneliese Drescher Wald, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 21, 2020 with her family by her side. She was born in Schweinfurt, Germany on December 2, 1931 to the late Julius and Emma Drescher, and was the wife of 50 years to the late Guenther Anton Wald who died in 2003.
Immigrating to the United States in 1954 with her husband, Anneliese and Guenther became successful business owners in the local community. Anneliese was drawn to people and owned Dia-Glo Beauty Salon for over 25 years.
Anneliese loved spending time at the family beach home, quiet times in her garden, cooking mouth watering German meals and traveling the world. But most of all, she cherished time with her family. Our sweet Omi dearly loved her three grandsons. They were the light of her life. Anneliese will forever be remembered as a fun loving, determined lady with a lovely smile that always brought comfort and warmth to the people she met.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Bennett, son-in-law, Jay and grandchildren, William and George of Raleigh, NC; her daughter, Gloria Newlin, son-in-law, Keith and grandson, Nicholas of Snow Camp, NC.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Chatham Friends Church by Rev. Jon Helton, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall with a reception.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Chatham Friends Meeting, 4507 Greenhill Road, Snow Camp, NC 27349 or to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
