“Anneliese” Cacilie Lieselotte Busenthür Norris – well known as Anneliese was 93 years old when she left her Earthly Presence on January 27, 2023. She was surrounded by those who loved and adored her 24/7 the last six days of her life. Mom was showered with thousands of I Love Yous, Hugs, Kisses, and Affirmation of what a great wife, mom, and grandmother she had been to each of us.
Mom was born in Koblenz, Germany on November 28, 1929. She met dad while he was stationed in the military in Germany on a blind date. She left everything she knew – her family, her friends, her native country, her language and her culture with her eighteen month old daughter to make a lifetime commitment with dad in the United States.
Mom was very proud to be living in this country. On December 6, 1963, she proudly applied for her U.S. Citizenship. These are very vivid memories of mom’s excitement and enthusiasm in this accomplishment.
Always the doting and loving Mom to my brother and I growing up, she decided on a career when we were older. In 1971, with the encouragement of her friends, she studied to become a CNA at Wesley Long Hospital in the Newborn Nursery. Every night after dinner, she studied with a German-English dictionary to help her translate medical terms. For 20 years at Wesley Long, she provided love, care, expertise, and experience to Moms and their newborn babies.
Mom loved to dance and had some serious rhythm. She also enjoyed traveling with dad and with us and her grandchildren. One of Mom’s love languages was cooking for her family and friends, and her signature German Potato Salad was requested at all events. And oh, how Mom loved her flowers that bloomed all over her yard.
Mom is survived by her children, Carmen Pennington (Bob), Barry Norris (Beth Crandall); grandchildren, Taylor Pennington, Melinda Norman (Chris), Christina Norris, and great grandchildren, Kaylin and Sophia. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her three siblings.
