Burlington-Anna Marie Rice Curtis, age 56 went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at ARMC. She was a native of Macon County and the wife of 22 years to Joseph W. "Joey" Curtis who survives. Anna was the communications operations manager for the Burlington Police Department and was on the training committee for APCO. She was an emergency number professional and NC certified instructor for NENA at ACC and GTCC. She was a 1984 graduate of Elon University, a member of the Burlington Police Club, Mountain View Ruritan Club, Burlington Toastmasters and former president of the Burlington-Alamance Jaycees. Anna loved animals and was a friend of the Burlington Animal Shelter taking food and supplies to the shelter throughout the years. She was a loving and devoted wife, daughter, step mother and step grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Joseph W. "Joey" Curtis of the home; step children, Lindsey Curtis of Burlington and Andrew Curtis and friend, Kayla Hayden of Burlington; step grandchildren, Landen Curtis and Logen Curtis; father and mother, James Loy Rice and Betty Mae Vanhook Rice of Burlington; brother, Wayne Lewis Rice and wife, Camellia of Wilmington and a niece, Leigh Anna Brazel and husband, Zachary of Wilmington and her mother-in-law, Mildred Curtis of Graham. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Reid Dickens, Chaplain of the Burlington Police Department and the burial will follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
