Ann Workman Wrenn

July 3, 1934 — March 16, 2025

Elon

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Ann Workman Wrenn, aged 90, on March 16, 2025, at the Hock Family Pavilion hospice home in Durham, following a back injury sustained just days earlier.

Born on July 3, 1934, in Alamance County, Ann was the cherished daughter of the late James Preston Workman and Effie Jones Workman. She was the devoted wife of Therwell Howard Wrenn for 66 glorious years until his passing in 2021.

Ann's roots ran deep in Shiloh United Methodist Church, where she grew and flourished. She was a proud graduate of Altamahaw-Ossipee School and attended the Woman’s College, now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her professional journey included 35 years at Jennings M. Bryan Insurance Agency, a testament to her work ethic and commitment. Further enriching her life, she was a giving member of Bethlehem Christian Church.

As a mother, Ann's love knew no bounds. She devoted herself tirelessly to ensuring her son, David, who has special needs, had the resources, education, and activities to thrive. Alongside her late husband, Therwell, Ann was an enthusiastic supporter of the Celebration Singers, where David joyously sang and uplifted many congregations with the message of love and faith. The flowers that Therwell planted and attended, brought her immense joy, but it was the laughter and smiles of her children that filled her heart with the greatest delight.

Ann's legacy lives on through her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Wrenn Collins and Mike Collins, and her cherished son, David Eugene Wrenn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Therwell, her parents, Preston and Effie Workman, her brother, James Elmer Workman, Sr., and her sister, Louise Workman Lewis.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Angela Neal of Touched by Angels for the compassionate care she provided Ann during these past years.

A service celebrating Ann's life will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Bud Wrenn, with interment following at Shiloh Community Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, and other times at the residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Community Church Cemetery Fund, P O Box 214, Altamahaw, NC 27202 or to Bethlehem Christian Church, P.O. Box 127, Altamahaw, NC 27202. Both churches held special places in Ann's heart.
