Our sweet and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and wife went home today to be with her Savior. Ann Wilbourne Wade, 79, of Burlington, NC died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family at her bedside. She was born in South Boston, Halifax County, VA. She is preceded in death by her parents, the late Archer Atkins Wilbourne and Evelyn Talley Wilbourne, of South Boston, VA, and by her grandson, Jesse Wade, and sister Shirley W. Shotwell of Roxboro, NC. Mrs. Wade is survived by her husband of sixty years, William Calvin Wade, Sr. of the home; her sister, Camilla W. Coates, formerly of South Boston, VA, now residing in Graham NC; her son, William Calvin Wade, Jr. and his wife Madeleine of Burlington; her daughter Patricia Pat A. Wade, formerly of Fayetteville Burlington; her son Rev. David Carlton Wade and his wife Cindy, Wilmington, NC; her grand-daughters, Stephanie Ann Wade, Chapel Hill, NC, Dana Wade Averette and her husband, Tommy Mebane NC, Rebekah Wade of Wilmington, NC; her grandsons, Zebulon H. Wade, C. J. Malachi Wade, of Wilmington, NC, and seven great-grandchildren . Ann was raised on a tobacco farm in VA. She and William decided to make Alamance County their home in 1953. After moving to NC, she continued to farm with her husband and children. Ann graduated from Burlington Business College. She enjoyed working for Farm Bureau of Alamance County for 32 years. In addition to working for Farm Bureau she was a wonderful home-maker, a marvelous cook, avid reader, loyal friend, and cherished her many friends. She enjoyed travelling with her children, family and many friends over the years. She was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church until her declining health. Visitation will be held between the hours of 5 pm 8:00 pm on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home of Burlington, her funeral will be conducted Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 3:00 PM Bethel United Methodist Church. The family will receive guests and friends at Lowe Funeral Home and at other times at the family home. Our family would like to thank the Hospice Care Center, all of their staff, nurses, CNA's and care workers, with special acknowledgment to Karen Robertson, RN, for her wonderful care given to our loved one. We would also like to thank our many friends and family for their love and support during her declining health. A special thank you to the members of Bethel United Methodist Church, to the Joy and Fellowship classes, Rev Renee' Burnette, Peggy Faucette, Kay Foster, Nettie Buckner, Gloria and Jimmy Smith, Mary Lee, Lisa Collins, of the community, Shelly Bostic, Danville, VA., as well as the members of Camp Ground United Methodist Church of Fayetteville, NC. Thank you to all of the other care givers for their loving support to Ann and our family.
