Gibsonville - Bernice Ann Wood Simpson, 70, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 11, 2016 at Alamance Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born in Cherokee County, NC to the late Stanley Wayne Wood, Sr. and Elie Ann Nichols Wood and was married to her life partner, Betty Sue Hardy who survives.

Ann was a self-employed hair stylist with Klassey Kuts. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Murphy, NC. She enjoyed painting, gardening and all kinds of flowers. Ann was active in the Senior Games and loved traveling with Betty.

Survivors other than her life partner, Betty Sue Hardy include her sister, Carol Lynn Stallings; brother, Stanley Wayne Wood, Jr. and his wife, Lynda; adopted son, Danny Fogleman and his wife, Lisa; sister-in-law, Linda Smith Wood; several nieces and nephews, and her feline companions, Arthur, Misty and Blackie. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James David "J.D." Wood.

The funeral service will be held 11:00AM Monday, November 14, 2016 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Mike Johnson. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6PM Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
