Ann Rogers King, 74, of Alamance County, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at UNC Hospitals, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Alamance County, Ann was the daughter of the late John Thomas Rogers and Ollie Ruth Shanklin Rogers. She was the devoted wife of Marlie Lee King, her beloved husband of 46 years, who survives.
Ann was co-owner and operator of King’s Auto Salvage, where she worked side by side with Marlie for over 30 years. Together, they built not just a business, but a legacy of hard work and community connection.
Ann will be remembered for her generous spirit and joyful heart. She was renowned for hosting unforgettable Christmas celebrations — no one could throw a Christmas party quite like Ann King. Her love for the holiday season was matched only by the joy she found in sharing it with others.
She treasured time spent with her lifelong best friend and sister, Bobbie Jean Hauser. The two shared countless memories, including frequent trips to Tennessee, with their favorite spot being the Christmas Inn in Gatlinburg.
Affectionately known as ‘Nana Ann’, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she embraced every opportunity to spend time with them. She also loved “lake life,” spending many cherished summers at White Lake and later at Hyco Lake, always surrounded by family and friends.
Ann and Marlie shared a love for car shows and traveling together. They made cherished memories exploring the U.S., with favorite destinations including Walt Disney World and Hawaii—places that brought Ann great joy.
Ann is survived by her beloved husband, Marlie; son-in-law, Joey Loftis; daughter, Rhonda King Morrow; grandchildren, Korie Whited (Jason), Kacie Hicks (Tanner), Kayla Whited (Nathan), Jaden Rodriguez, Jordan Rodriguez, and Jacie Rodriguez; great grandchildren, Palmer and Porter Hicks; sister, Bobbie Hauser; sister-in-law, Ann Rogers; and dear friends, Jerry Kernodle, and Doug Shambley.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tina Lynn Loftis; her parents; her brother, John Thomas Rogers, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Bud Hauser.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Scott Gindlesperger with interment to follow in Mebane Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Monday, April 21, 2025 at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
