Ann Puckett Gilliam, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on April 12, 1935 in Person County to the late Harry Watts Puckett and Lula Crowder Puckett, and was the wife of 62 years to the late Charles G. Gilliam who died in 2018.
Ann was a former school teacher with the Burlington City School System. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Burlington, the Burlington Woman’s Club, and the Carolina Needlepoint Guild. Ann enjoyed playing in different bridge clubs and was a former tournament bridge player. She also enjoyed reading and playing the piano.
Ann is survived by her son, Rick Gilliam and wife Lisa; daughters, LuAnn Maner and husband Barry and Libby Faulkner; her grandchildren whom affectionally knew her as “Mimi”, Kelsey Gilliam and fiancé Alli Walsh, Zack Gilliam and wife Sydney, Clay Maner and wife Lara, Abby Freeman and husband Andrew; great grandson, Paxton Gilliam; a brother, Dr. Lin Puckett and wife Teresa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Lula Puckett, and her husband, Charles G. Gilliam.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Monday, October 16, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Stacey Grimm. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45pm Monday prior to the service. The burial will be private at Pine Hill Cemetery.
