Mrs. Angela Walters Ward, 89, formerly of May Dr. went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 16, 2007 at Liberty Commons of Alamance. Mrs. Ward was born April 13, 1917 in Robeson County, NC to the late Allison and Anna Curry Walters. For almost 60 years she was the wife of the late Grantham Lewis Ward. In her earlier years, Mrs. Ward was a beautician, but was a homemaker most of her life. She was a devoted long time member of Grove Park Baptist Church where she delivered tapes to shut-ins, served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, and a member of the Melody Makers handbell choir. She was well known for the home cooked meals she prepared for the sick and disabled. Mrs. Ward also volunteered for Meals On Wheels as long as her health allowed. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and a Christian witness everywhere she went. Survivors include two daughters, Saundra Morton and her husband Bill of Burlington; Faye Shue and her husband Darrell of Clinton, SC; a daughter-in-law, Janice Richards Ward of Burlington; eight grandchildren, Gay Keith Henshaw, Boyce Teresa Morton, David Paula Morton, Don Marcia Shue, Susan Robbie Cauble, Greg Shue, Trip Melissa Ward, Robyn Jay Wrenn; fourteen great grandchildren; and one sister, Mae Peggy Wellon Britt of Hallsboro, NC. She was preceded in death by a son, Grantham Bucky Ward; two brothers, Calvin and Lamar Walters; and one sister, Zula Hutcherson. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Grove Park Baptist Church by Dr. Gene Hunsinger, Rev. Mike Mitchner, and Rev. Jonathan Harrison. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2007 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home of Bill & Saundra Morton, 1338 Willow Oak Drive, Burlington. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grove Park Baptist Church, 108 Trail One, Burlington, NC 27215. Condolences may be sent to the family at info@lowefuneralhome.com
