Andy Brown, Sr.

Andy Dale Brown, Sr., 78, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Moses Cone Hospital resulting from injuries of a tractor accident.  He was born in Guilford County on March 18, 1941 to the late Andrew Alexander Brown and Mary Elizabeth Davis Brown and was the husband to Worda Atkinson Brown of 58 years who survives.

Andy was the owner and operator of Brown’s Garage and a farmer.  He was a charter member of the Whitsett Fire Department, a member of the Whitsett Ruritan Club and was on several committees in the Whitsett community through the years.  Andy enjoyed working with his hands, staying busy and serving others.

Survivors other than his wife, Worda Brown include a daughter, Debra Ross and husband, Eddie; a son, Andy “Dale” Brown, Jr. and wife, Maria; grandchildren, Matthew Ross and wife Cody, Mary Samantha Ross, Anna Elizabeth Brown and Caroline Nicole Brown; sister, Clara Combs; brother, Melvin Brown, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Vallie Palmer and Pauline Duckworth; and brothers, Bobby Brown and James Brown.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Mark Aheron with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 4 to 6pm Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
