Alyse Simpson

Alyse Shug Morton Simpson, age 73, of 2939 Gwyn Road went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at UNC Hospitals. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late Mack Dwight Simpson. Alyse retired after 30 plus years with the Greensboro City School System. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church where she taught the Nursery Two Sunday School Class and was the recording secretary for the Administrative Council. She was a long time member of the church choir and was active in the Young at Heart Group. She also was active in the Care and Share Group in the community and enjoyed playing cards with the Set-Back Bunch. Alyse was a loving wife and mother and loving grandmother to her two special granddaughters. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Shannon Simpson and Chad Rhodes of Elon; son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Karen Simpson of Elon; granddaughters, Jordan and Hunter Simpson; sisters and brother-in-law,Hazel M. and John Robertson of Burlington, Peggy M. Wilson of Elon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Dwight Simpson, parents, Junius Everette and Sally Price Morton; sister, Edith M. Tunstall, brothers, Frank, Vance, John and Russell Morton. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Fairview United Methodist Church by Rev. Jared Hanson assisted by Rev. Dave Gilbert. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
