Alton Vincent

Alton Lee Vincent, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Moses Cone Hospital.  He was born on June 9, 1934 in Guilford County to the late Gayther Thomas Vincent and Esther Alberta Ward Vincent, and was the husband to Irene Alcon Vincent for 36 years of the home.

Alton retired as a Chief Petty Officer 1st Class from the US Navy serving in the Vietnam War aboard the USS Iwo Jima. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where he was a former choir leader; he loved working in his yard and spending time outdoors. Alton was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be deeply missed.

Survivors other than his wife, Irene Alcon Vincent include his step daughters, Cindy Oakley and husband Mike and Janet Trogdon and husband Mike; step sons, Wendell Tucker and wife Luisa and Timothy Tucker; 11 step grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren; sisters, Elsie Petty, Peggy Bradburn and Wilma Norris; and several nieces and nephews. Alton was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Agnes Stutts and Alice Vincent, and a brother, Albert Taylor Vincent.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tommy Marley and military honors by the US Navy and the Marine Corps League of Alamance County, with the burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park.  The family request everyone in attendance wear masks and social distance.
