Elon Alta Jo Rogers Bagbey, 74, of Bagbey Trail died on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Moses Cone Hospital. She was born in Ada, Oklahoma and was the wife of late Garland Hitter Bagbey. Jo retired from Burlington Industries, Williamsburg Plant and was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and also a Duke Blue Devil fan. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Belinda Southard and her husband, Matt of Morehead, Kentucky and her son and daughter-in-law, W. F. and Theresa Smith of Elon; three step daughters and a sister, Alice Mae Knight of Somerset, California and half brother, Travis Rogers of Oregon; five grandchildren, Brooks Smith and his wife, Amee, Aulden Smith, Misty Overman, Noah Southard and Finleigh Southard; five step grandchildren, six step great grandchildren and two step great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Hitter Bagbey; parents, W.F. and Arene Sutton Pepper. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Bethlehem Christian Church by Rev. Dave Gilbert with burial to follow in the Bagbey Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the son's residence on Osceola Road in Elon. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Christian Church, 3625 Altamahaw Church Street, Elon, NC 27244.
