Allen Bradford "Al" Carver, 89, of Burlington died Friday morning at The Hospice Home of Alamance after a brief illness. He was born in Buffalo, South Carolina on November 20, 1925 to the late Henry and Leola Carver. Al was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II on the U.S. Slater. He graduated from Clemson University in 1950 with an electrical engineering degree and worked for Western Electric/AT&T, 1951 to retirement in 1987. Al was a member of Holly Hill Baptist Church. Al was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years, Zora Smoak Carver, on February 7, 2015. Survivors include three daughters and their husbands; Judy Ken Whiteheart of Mocksville, Chriss Henry Buckner of Burlington and Lea Carver Michael Borovsky of Graham; one son and his wife, Alan Ginny Carver of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren, Jared Stefanie Buckner; Justin Jennifer Buckner; Jennifer Whiteheart Jason Lowrance; Christian Kristen Carver; Cameron Mint Carver and James Nikki Whiteheart ; four great grandchildren, Jessa Lowrance and Aiden, Zoralea and Noah Bradford Carver. The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday at Holly Hill Baptist Church and officiated by Pastors Kenny Black and Randy Godwin. Burial to follow in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Saxapahaw. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Al's honor to Holly Hill Baptist Church, 2818 Edgewood Ave., Burlington, NC 27215 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
