Alice Gerringer

Alice Towe Gerringer, age 80, of 1738 Rock Creek Dairy Road in Whitsett, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008. A native of Surry County, she was born to Roy W. and Effie Key Towe, both deceased, and was the wife of the late Thomas Washington Gerringer. Alice was a homemaker, and a member of Richland Gospel Church. Survivors include her sons: John Davis Gerringer, and wife Carol, of Whitsett; Robert Lee Gerringer, and wife Janie, of Julian; James Carson Gerringer of Graham; Don Eugene Gerringer, and wife Hattie, of Whitsett; Floyd Leonard Gerringer, and wife Lisa, of Whitsett; and Philip Raymond Gerringer of Whitsett; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Cletus Doby; and one sister-in-law, Hellen Towe. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son, Thomas Wayne Gerringer; daughter-in-law, Susie Gerringer; brothers, Ray Towe, and Ralph Towe; sister, Evelyn Doby; and her sister-in-law, Peggy Towe. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2008 at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Reverend Jeff Dodson, and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 on Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, and at other times at the home of Philip Gerringer, 3901 Onnie Road, in Whitsett.
