Alfred Sumner, Jr.

Alfred "Pat" Sumner, Jr., 91, of 2465 Bason Rd. passed away Wednesday May 25, 2011 at the Hospice Home. He was the husband of Vera Craig Sumner and was born March 29, 1920 in Edgecombe County to the late Alfred Cooper Sumner, Sr. and the late Mildred Sadler Sumner. Pat retired from Apollo Chemical after many years of service. He had also worked at Griffin's Pharmacy, Sherad's Drug and Mann's Drug. He attended Haw River Christian Church. Survivors include his wife of the home, a daughter Vickie Wilburn of Burlington, a son Joseph "Joe" Brenda Sumner of Burlington, stepsons; Phillip Jaqe Williams of Charleston, SC, Dennis Patience Williams of Haw River, Craig Cindy Williams of Bentonville, AR, grandchildren; Brandi Keith Patterson, Ashley Williams, great grandchildren; Alden Patterson Analeigh Patterson and a brother Herbert Frances Sumner of Graham. He was preceded in death by parents, and a brother Joseph Cooper Sumner. The funeral will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at the Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends 10:00 - 10:45 prior to the service And at other times at the home.
