Burlington -Albert Matthew Satterfield, age 68, has passed from this earthy life to that which is promised by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late John Thomas and Mary Udile Wade Satterfield.
Albert retired from Vocational Trades. He was a longtime member of Macedonia Lutheran Church and a member of the Celebration Singers. Albert was a “gentle giant” who was blessed with incredible singing talent. He accepted it openly, nurtured it hopefully and then gave it away freely as he sang in hundreds of church services, retreats and other gatherings as one of the founding members and lead singers with the Celebration Singers of Alamance County. His vocal range was amazing from counter-tenor to baritone and sometimes bass. He and the choir blessed people in Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee and Washington, D.C., and of course, so many counties in North Carolina. Some of his most appreciated songs were “My Tribute”, “Angel Band” and “His Eye is on the Sparrow”.
His skill and talent were combined with humility and loving-kindness and he will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his sister, Brenda Poteat and husband, David of Haw River; nieces and nephews, Derek Poteat, Kenneth Foust, Tonia (Nikky) Poteat, Saacha Satterfield and Lynelle Johnson; great nieces and nephews, Jasmine Poteat, Kaliegh Poteat, Deja Poteat, Josiah Poteat and Donovan Poteat. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Thomas Satterfield, Jr., Tony and Larry Satterfield: infant sister, Sherry Satterfield.
A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020 at 11:00 am at Northlawn Cemetery by Rev. Shadra Suzanne Shoffner.
Memorial donations may be made to the Authoracare Hospice, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or Macedonia Lutheran Church, 421 W. Front Street, Burlington, NC 27215.
