Albert Handy, Sr.

Mebane - Albert Guy "Captain Handy" Handy, Sr., 89, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was born in Patrick County, VA on February 16, 1928 to the late Daniel Guy Handy and Lucy Bowman Howell Handy and was the husband to Peggy Joyce Hill Handy of 66 years who survives.

Albert retired as a security guard with Burnes Detective Agency after 13 years of service. He was known as "Captain Handy" that loved spreading the gospel.

Survivors other than his wife, Peggy Handy include his sons, Albert Guy Handy, Jr. and wife, Brenda, Jesse Handy and Steve Handy and wife, Beverly; a daughter, Cynthia Hall; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; sister, Carrie Johnson; half-sisters, Opal Scott and Elvie Stanley; half-brothers, Wayne, Glen, Homer and Wesley Howell; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Harmon, Walter and Luther Howell.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ron Sheffield with the burial to follow in Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Monday evening at the funeral home and other times at the home.
