Aileen Cook Allison, 99, of Gibsonville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at home. She was born in Guilford County to the late Arthur Ernie and Eva Breeden Cook and was married for 64 years to John Whitney “Whit” Allison who died August 26, 2006.
Aileen graduated from McLeansville High School and was a member of Johnson Baptist Church. She loved baking and cooking and serving meals to others. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary with Station 28 of Gibsonville Fire District 28. Aileen and her late husband “Whit” were foster parents for several years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who truly enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Stan Allison (Sylvia); daughter, Virginia “Gina” Travis (Keith); grandchildren, Ranee “Skeeter” Hyder, Mike Hyder (Debbie), Jeff Hyder and Melanie White; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister, Daphne Munns and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, LaVelle Allison Phillippie; grandson, Lowell Hyder, sister, Edna Groce and brothers, Harmon and Lacy Cook.
The funeral service will be held on 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Larry Andrews with burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:45-1:45 Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
