Ada Knight

Burlington- Mrs. Ada Sutton Knight, age 86, of Burlington, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Arba Sutton and the late Ida Skenes Sutton. She was married for 66 years to Mr. George E. Knight, Jr. who survives. Ada was a lifetime member of Carolina Christian Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years. She enjoyed baking for family and friends, flower gardening and spending time with her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and served as a pillar in her church and community for the entirety of her adult life.
Mrs. Knight is survived by her husband, of the home; three children, Sharon Knight Starnes and husband, Philip of Burlington, Colon R. Knight and wife, Laurie of Summerfield, and Lorri Knight Shannon and husband, Dan of Mebane; grandchildren, Wendy Alvardo, Tonya Brady and husband, Philip Starnes, Jr. and wife, Charles Starnes and wife, Anna Knight, Leah Shannon, Jonathan Knight and Claire Shannon; a brother, Jake Sutton of Gibsonville, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 6th, 2016 at Carolina Christian Church by Rev. Mark Mitchell and Rev. Milton Wilder. Interment will follow at Carolina Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, December 5th at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
