Ada Hicks

Burlington Mrs. Ada Sayers Hicks, age 92, formerly of Burlington, passed away Friday August 8, 2008 at Rehabilitation and Healthcare of Alamance. A native of Tazwell County, West Virginia, she was the wife of the late James Otis Hicks and daughter of the late Isaac Newton and Madge Barefield Sayers. Mrs. Hicks was an LPN working at both Alamance County Hospital and Memorial Hospital of Alamance as well as working as a private duty nurse. She was a member of West Burlington Church of God. Survivors include her 2 daughters, Nancy H. McCauley and husband Len of Greensboro and Marie H. Brown and husband Danny of Graham; son, James M. Hicks and wife Sue of Durham; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; sisters, Frances Neal of Galena, OH, Mona Sayers of Texas, Faye Gilly of Princeton, WV and Oceana Israel of Columbus, OH. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday August 10, 2008 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Olin Tatum. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mrs. Hicks will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory through the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 2:45 -3:45 PM, prior to the service.
