Tanya Lunsford

Burlington – Tanya Jo Bray Lunsford, 59, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at her residence. She was born in Catawba County on October 4, 1960 and was the wife of 28 years to Michael Shawn Lunsford of the home.

Tanya was a member of Burlington Assembly of God. After retiring from the dental field, Tanya devoted her life to her family, especially her children and beloved granddaughter Eva, who referred to her as “Nana”.  Tanya was able to see Eva’s birth, her first birthday and to hear her call her “Nana” for the first time. It truly completed her.  Tanya will be missed by all that knew her, but especially by her family who loved her dearly.

Survivors include her husband Michael; daughters, Danielle Lunsford and Molly Lunsford; son, Matthew Lunsford and wife Hannah; granddaughter, Eva Lunsford; father, Tommy Joe Bray and a brother, Scott Bray.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Ann Barber Bray.

A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00pm on Friday, January 3, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Howard Thompson.  A private entombment will be held on Monday at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45pm prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Tanya felt blessed to have outstanding healthcare so close to home while she battled cancer.  The top cancer centers in the country told her that the care she was receiving at home would be the exact same care they would give.  For that, the family asks that contributions be made in her name to the Cancer Center at Alamance Regional Medical Center, 1225 Huffman Mill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or to Hospice Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
