Helen May

Helen Sharp May, 90, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 4, 2020.  She was born in Andrews, NC to the late Leonard Jasper Sharp and Flora Jane Gregory Sharp.  Helen was married for 50 years to the late Jesse May.  She was a  member of Zion Christian Church where she actively and faithfully served for over 60 years and was the longtime treasurer of the Ladies fellowship.  She volunteered at the Kernodle Senior Center and won several medals competing in the Senior Games.  Helen was a member of the Silver Sneakers program and also enjoyed walking with the seniors at the mall.  She was a talented seamstress making everything from school costumes to Jane’s wedding dress.

She is survived by her daughters, Dale Ashley (Lonnie), Jane Boone (Thurman); grandchildren, Jeff Billings, Janis Ashley, Sean Boone (Dodie), Jason Boone (Joni), Amanda Boone McPhillips (Dan); seven great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; and sisters, Joanne Rogers and Gladys Raxter.

A service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Steve Sykes and Gordon Phillips with burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park.  Mrs. May can be viewed from 1:00-5:00 PM Wednesday and 8:00-10:45 AM on Thursday.
